Rei-niho Bowenite pendant by Alex Sands
SKUA stunning rei-niho (tooth form) pendant, hand carved in rare Chatoyant New Zealand Tangiwai bowenite by Alex Sands. This piece has beautiful translucency, making it very distinctive. Tangiwai bowenite is different from other types of bowenite because it has a different chemical composition to the more common nephrite jades.
Chatoyance or the "cat's eye effect" is like the sheen off spun silk with constantly changing colours and patterns inside the stone. As you move the stone the patterns and streaks of light inside appear to swirl within.
Complete with an adjustable plaited waxed braid cord, it also includes a traditional woven presentation case and a detailed description of the meaning of the carving.
