Guest Artists

These carvings are a mix of very traditional and contemporary styles by guest artists.

*** Huge stock clearance specials in this gallery ***

Many of these special carvings are unique custom or limited edition pieces that will not be repeated on our site and therefore do not appear in our stock catalogue. Some of the "designs" may be repeated but the colour, pattern and texture of the special jades from which each is carved makes most pieces very unique.

Please Note - Some examples on these pages show the carvings with a degree of back lighting to illustrate their luminosity.
This is how they look when held up to a light so they may appear a darker shade of green when held in the hand or worn against the skin.

All carvings are supplied complete with a traditional style cord & bag.
Most cords are hand made from black waxed braid with a loop and bone toggle fitted. A woven flax presentation case and information on the meaning of the design is also included.
Cords & Packing Detail

Fast airmail shipping worldwide is now just US$6.95 for up to 5 pendants.
As these carvings can never be replaced if lost in transit, we highly recommend choosing the courier delivery option.

Pounamu (Jade) Carvings by Local Artists

The rugged West Coast is the home of New Zealand's sacred Pounamu (nephrite jade) where it is found as boulders in the high mountain streams.
These exclusive and rare carvings are one-off pieces by guest artists such as Margaret Bishop, Roger Cleghorn, Dean Hethrington and Brant Travis. These often very reclusive artists mostly from the west coast of the South Island of New Zealand produce some of the countries finest work with an unmistakable inner beauty and simple but stunning form and quality.

We are truly honoured to be able to display some of their work here.

Hand carved from a huge piece of very rare Marsden Pounamu (often called flower jade for its strong colours), this amazing one of a kind sculpture illustrates the two faces of the Maori Warrior.
It is mounted on a large piece of polished native driftwood and also features hand made hair of local plant fibres just as ropes were made my the ancient Maori.
The Head is fitted onto the base with a jade pin  so can be lifted off the base easily

This has been a true labour of lover for Adam and showcases not only his incredible skill as an artist but his passion for the Maori culture.  It will never be repeated so will remain the most unique example of  sculpture in Pounamu that has been seen in New Zealand for many years.

This is a large display piece who's dimensions are:
