A long Toki pendant carved in New Zealand flower jade or "Pounamu" with a traditional satin finish by Alex Sands.  

When jade is heated in a fire it either instantly shatters or it takes on an amazing red brown tone as seen in this extraordinary rare piece.

Includes a waxed braid cord with carved jade toggle, a traditional woven presentation case and a detailed description of the meaning of the carvings.

The Toki is the adze blade was bound onto a wooden handle and used to carve the great canoes and details on the meeting houses.   It represents a creative or artistic person and the coming together of head, hand and heart.
