Large Chatoyant Tangiwai Rei-Niho by Malcolm Cox


A stunning Rei-Niho pendant, hand carved in rare Chatoyant New Zealand Tangiwai Pounamu by Malcolm Cox. 

Tangiwai Pounamu is actually a type of bowenite which is different in chemical composition to the more common nephrite jades. 
Chatoyance or the "cat's eye effect" which is a bit like the sheen off a spool of silk, shows as constantly changing colours and patterns inside the stone.  As you move the drop the patterns and streaks of light inside appear swirl around within.

Includes an adjustable plaited waxed braid cord, a traditional woven presentation case and a detailed description of the meaning of the carvings.
