A hand crafted dark jade Toki sculpture with Koru carved in heated New Zealand Marsden Jade and mounted on a native Rimu base by Malcolm Cox.
When nephrite jade stones are subject to heat as they are when used as stones around a fire pit, the colour often tends to change to this interesting red tone.

The Toki or adz blade represents a creative person and the bringing together of head, hand and heart.
The spiral form is a Koru, which is the fern frond as it opens bringing new life and purity to the world.
It also represents peace, tranquility, family as well as regrowth or new beginnings/journeys.
