Large Flower Jade Rei-Niho by Samuel Potter


A large bound Rei Niho style pendant carved in New Zealand Jade or Pounamu by Samuel Potter.  
It includes an adjustable plaited waxed braid cord, a traditional woven presentation case and a detailed description of the meaning of the carving.   

This piece shows some of the natural textures and form of the original wild west coast river stone from which it was carved.  These small fissures and textured areas on the top right corner and bottom right edge of the piece add a little raw character to this beautiful carving.

The Rei Niho is the name given to a piece carved Pounamu and resembling the whale tooth in form.
