This amazing piece carved out of a Swamp Tōtara tree, and raised by a black steel plinth. Carved by Joe Kemp (Te Arawa, Ngai Tahu & Ngapuhi), Joe is a outstanding carver and renound for being one of the best carvers in recent times. Whetū Mārama means/is talking about  the planets in orbit around the sun. Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn that were known to Māori astonomers in ancient times.
