In Maori "Pēpi" means baby and "Pito" is the umbilical cord.
A Pito cutter is a very special piece of New Zealand pounamu stone with a sharpened edge and wooden block used to cut the umbilical cord at birth.
After the birth of your Pēpi these traditional tools become a family keepsakes to be used again or kept as a special Taonga for the child.
